Testing your aquarium’s water parameters regularly is an important part of keeping and maintaining a healthy environment for your fish and invertebrates. Fritz Calcium Test kit is a liquid-reagent-based test that accurately measures calcium in both saltwater and freshwater aquariums. The kit contains the required reagents, a test tube and instruction card with test color chart.
Calcium is an important mineral for aquariums, especially reef aquariums with corals and other invertebrates, as it plays a key role in the growth and development of their skeletal structures.
Calcium (Ca²⁺) is central to many biological functions in saltwater and reef aquariums and should remain in proper ionic balance along with alkalinity (KH) and magnesium (Mg²⁺). A calcium level outside of this ionic balance can lead to poor coral skeleton growth and tissue necrosis.
As corals actively consume calcium, levels in reef aquariums can decline quickly, making regular testing necessary to ensure proper dosing.
To remove childproof safety cap, push down while turning.
Add 10 drops from Test Solution Bottle #1, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to ensure uniformity of drops added to the water sample.
Cap the test tube and gently shake several times to mix solution. Attention! Always use the cap. Avoid skin contact as this may affect the test results.
Vigorously shake the Test Solution Bottle #2 for at least 10 seconds.
Holding the bottle vertically, add Test Solution #2 one drop at a time, shaking gently between each drop. Count each drop.
Stop when the solution changes from pink to blue.

As the blue endpoint is approached, color will change from pink to purple before changing to blue. After purple color forms, only 1-2 more drops should be required to reach the blue endpoint.
Calcium level is number of drops x 20 = mg/l calcium. Use drop counter or chart to find the test result value.

mg/L (ppm) calcium
To increase the calcium in saltwater aquariums, add Fritz RPM Elements – Calcium.
When adding calcium, also ensure alkalinity (KH) and magnesium levels are within ideal ranges.
To decrease the calcium of your water, perform partial water changes with water with a lower GH (such as RO/DI.)
