Accurately measures copper levels to help maintain a healthier aquarium
  • Essential test for monitoring copper level during treatment
  • Measures total copper level; works with chelated copper treatments like Coppersafe
  • Easy to read instructions

Overview

Testing your aquarium’s water parameters regularly is an important part of keeping and maintaining a healthy environment for your fish and invertebrates. Fritz Copper Test kit is a liquid-reagent-based test that accurately measures copper levels in both saltwater and freshwater aquariums. The kit contains the required reagents for up to 90 tests, a test tube and instruction card with test color chart.

Why test for copper?

Copper-based treatments, including Fritz Coppersafe, are commonly used for external parasitic infections such as Ich and velvet in aquariums. However, it’s important to monitor copper levels closely to ensure the correct, therapeutic  dose has been applied, especially when water volume is uncertain and with copper-sensitive species. Overdosing can be harmful to livestock. Some types of copper, such as ionic copper, require redosing to maintain a therapeutic concentration, and it’s important to monitor levels regularly.

After treatment, water should be tested to confirm a zero ppm copper concentration before reintroducing any invertebrates. It’s worth noting that copper can also contaminate tap water and it should be avoided or treated before use in any systems that contain invertebrates.

Directions

To remove childproof safety cap, push down while turning.

Fill a clean test tube with 5 ml of water to be tested (to the line on the tube).

Add 10 drops from Copper Test Solution, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to ensure uniformity of drops added to the water sample.

Cap the test tube and gently shake for 5 seconds. Attention! Always use the cap. Avoid skin contact as this may affect the test results.

Immediately read the test results by matching the color of the solution to the color chart.

Rinse the test tube with clean water after each use.

DO NOT allow test solutions to get into aquarium. Read and follow all precautions on the product label.

About your test results
