Preparations & Directions

Preparations
  • For best results, use MetroCleanse in a quarantine tank
  • Remove all chemical filtration (carbon, ion exchange resins, etc) and stop use of skimmer (if present) during treatment.
  • Maintain aeration and water flow.
Broadcast Directions
  • Remove any invertebrates prior to dosing if using these broadcast directions.
  • Add the contents of one packet per 20 gallons (75.7 L).
  • Repeat dose every 48 hours until symptoms disappear, up to 10 total treatments.
  • When no further symptoms are observed, replace chemical filtration and resume use of protein skimmers as well as normal feeding. Adjust temperature back to normal.
Feeding Directions
  • No adjustment of filtration needed.
  • Use 1 packet MetroCleanse mixed per tablespoon of normal food (adding some water if food is dry).
  • Feed medicated food mix daily until symptoms disappear or up to three weeks.
  • Refrigerate or freeze leftover mix between dosing/feeding.

Notes

  • Due to interruption of normal filtration, water may become cloudy during treatment. This is normal and does not require any additional intervention.
  • Do not perform water changes during the course of treatment. MetroCleanse may inhibit nitrifying bacteria. If ammonia or nitrite is a concern, detoxify during treatment with Fritz A.C.C.R. or Fritz Complete

Small system dosing

Dividing up our powder packets accurately for use in smaller tanks can be tricky, and to get the proper dose we recommend making a concentrated solution that is much easier to measure, see video below

Example small-system dosage

  • For a 5 gallon aquarium: mix/dissolve one packet mixed in 1/2 cup of water from the aquarium. One 5 gallon dose is equal to 1/4 cup of solution.

  • For a 1 gallon aquarium: mix/dissolve one packet in 10 tbsp of water from the aquarium. A 1 gallon dose is equal to 1 tbsp of solution.

  • For tanks in between the previous options, add the amount of 1 gallon doses equal the gallon size of your tank.

  • Store any excess solution in the fridge between doses, for up to a week.

Treatment may inhibit nitrifying bacteria. Monitor ammonia and nitrite levels during treatment.
