Fritz pH Neutralizer adjusts high and low pH values to 7.0, a level at which most freshwater community fish and plants thrive and reproduce. Fritz pH Neutralizer also removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Use when setting up new aquariums, adding water or when making pH adjustments to existing aquariums.
Maintaining a balanced, stable pH is vital to the health of aquarium livestock and efficiency of the bio-filter. The pH of an aquarium can fluctuate due to biological and/or chemical activity within the aquarium. Often, the pH of a new system tends to measure at a higher pH value and subsequently drops as the system ages.
Check starting pH with a pH test kit like Fritz Wide-Range pH Test Kit.
Depending on the initial alkalinity of your water, several doses may be required to reach the target pH.
Wait approximately 10 minutes, re-check the pH level before adding more Fritz pH Neutralizer.
Do not change pH by more than 0.2 units per 24 hours when livestock is present.
One level teaspoon per 10 U.S. gallons (38 L)

For best results, add pH Neutralizer to a high flow area of your aquarium

If high levels of ammonia have accumulated due to low pH (below 6 pH), a rise in the pH may result in rapid conversion to the toxic form of ammonia.

Fritz pH Neutralizer also removes chlorine and chloramine for a one-step tap water treatment solution.
Most community freshwater fish and plants do best between 6.8 and 7.4, and saltwater species tend to be in a range between 8.1 and 8.3. Even though different species have different preferences, most fish can survive across a fairly wide range.
Consistency matters more than perfection: a stable pH — even if slightly outside the ideal range — is less stressful to fish than frequent swings up and down.
In some areas of the country, the water is very alkaline. If water used to top off or water changes is more alkaline, it can increase the pH over time. Also, some aquarium decorations or substrates (limestone, seashells, crushed coral) add minerals which increase pH. These may need to be replaced to keep your pH more stable.
We recommend using pH Lower or pH Higher to make the larger scale pH changes and then to use pH Neutralizer to lock them in place at a stable, neutral pH
