Testing your aquarium’s water parameters regularly is an important part of keeping and maintaining a healthy environment for your fish and invertebrates. Fritz Phosphate Test kit is a liquid-reagent-based test that accurately measures phosphate levels in both saltwater and freshwater aquariums. The kit contains the required reagents for up to 150 tests, a test tube and instruction card with test color chart.
Phosphate enters the aquarium through fish food, tap water, and the breakdown of organic matter, and is also produced by the metabolic processes of fish and other inhabitants.
Monitoring phosphate levels is important because while small amounts are beneficial, elevated levels can lead to problems such as excessive algae growth and reduced oxygen availability. In reef systems, high phosphate inhibits calcification, directly interfering with coral skeleton formation. Conversely, very low phosphate can limit the activity of nitrifying bacteria, disrupting the nitrogen cycle. Phosphate is also essential for aquatic plant growth and cellular energy production.
To remove childproof safety cap, push down while turning.
Fill a clean test tube with 5 ml of water to be tested (to the line on the tube).
Add 6 drops from Phosphate Test Solution Bottle #1, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to ensure uniformity of drops added to the water sample.
Cap the test tube and gently shake several times to mix solution. Always use the cap. Avoid skin contact as this may affect the test results.
Add 6 drops from Phosphate Test Solution Bottle #2, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to ensure uniformity of drops added to the water sample.
Cap the test tube and gently shake for 5 seconds.
Wait three minutes for the color to develop.
Read the test results by matching the color of the solution against the color chart

DO NOT allow test solutions to get into aquarium. Read and follow all precautions on the product label.
Recommended phosphate range for freshwater aquariums: 0.05–0.1 ppm

Recommended phosphate range for saltwater aquariums: 0.03–0.05 ppm
To reduce phosphate, perform partial water changes and use MaxOut all-in-one filter media products or FritzZyme Turbo Clean.
To increase phosphate, add Fritz pH Neutralizer or any high-phosphate supplement or fish food, or perform partial water changes with tap water high in phosphate.
